Southwestern is pleased to announce the addition of Holroyd replacement Worm Gears and Shafts
to our product lineup.
Produced in the UK from materials of the highest quality, Worm Shafts are manufactured from high carbon steel forgings to ensure the strongest material structure. They are carburized and case hardened during manufacturing for maximum wear resistance prior to final surface grinding. This results in threads having uniform hardness from root to OD, not so with flame hardened threads.
Worm Gears are centrifugally cast from Nickel Bronze alloy, ensuring maximum tooth strength. Nickel Bronze has better wear properties and a higher resistance to pitting as compared to Nickel.
As a result, carburized and case hardened Worm Shafts and Nickel Bronze Worm Gears have higher load ratings and longer wear life when compared to OEM flame hardened steel Worm Shafts and Class A / Phosphor Bronze Worm Gears.
These newly manufactured replacement Worm Gears are available for CE pulverizers ranging in sizes from 483 up to 943.
When fitted as replacements, we are able to manufacture separate worm gears to match the original worm shaft. This is done using a reverse engineering method where a plastic impression is taken of the profile, enabling an exact replacement gear to be created. In many instances, a replacement gear can be manufactured while the original is still in operation within the gear box.
Every gear set, or gear with master, is checked on a gear tester for:
* Contact pattern and backlash
* Checked in no-load and simulated full-load
shift conditions.
Final inspection testing.
